The different types of auditions

An audition is a test performance, by an actor, dancer, or musician, to demonstrate their ability, suitability, or ability. There are several types of auditions that are the following:

o Open Audition: This is an audition that is announced and anyone can attend. There is usually a very long wait (but not always) depending on the popularity of the production and where it was advertised. For example, if you have advertised on TV or radio (on a major channel or station), you can guarantee that a large number of people will attend this audition. However, if the audition is advertised in a local newspaper, fewer people will likely attend.

o Private Audition – This type of audition is where you are given a specific date, time and place to attend and are seen right away.

o Withdrawal – This type of audition is where you are called back because you have been shortlisted for the production. For example, if they saw 50 people, they can call back 5 people and if you are one of the 5 people who called back, that audition is called a withdrawal. Sometimes you may get reminded multiple times before they decide who gets the job.

o Screen Test – A screen test is where you are asked to learn a short part of a script and then asked to go to the film or television studio to perform on camera. The final decision makers may not be present, so a copy of your performance will be sent to them to view on tape. If the final decision makers are around, they sometimes do a screen test to see how it looks on camera.
