Top Ten Things to Do in the Atlantic City, NJ Area

I have read some of the posts on this site and it seems like the topic is one of the top 10 things to do in a city or destination. Being a native of the Atlantic City area, I thought that my contribution of some gold nuggets of knowledge to enjoy your visit in the city would be the best thing for my fellow readers. Now let’s move on to my top 10 things to do in Atlantic City. Note that the list does not indicate any particular order or ranking, but these ten are all a perfect choice when visiting the Atlantic City area.

1.Atlantic City Beaches – Going for a walk on the beach – Night or day, summer or winter, this natural beauty is something many people forget when they think of Atlantic City. The advice here is where and when to go to the beach depending on the time of day and time of year. In the summer it’s a no-brainer. I know the obvious phrase is one of those that journalists hate, but it’s really just that. Head to neighboring Margate NJ. Margate is south of Atlantic City along the coast. The beaches are far enough away from the Atlantic City beaches that the “rabble” can cloud the beauty of what the beach has to offer. There is no boardwalk to crowd the area, as can be found in both Atlantic City and neighboring Ventnor. Also, and this is the beauty of the Margate beaches, you will find a wide selection of treats for the eyes of all the co-editors visiting the area during the summer. Tanned youthful skin brimming with life and zest.

two.Atlantic City Golf – Lots of award-winning courses to choose from – Sure many areas claim to have golf in their area, and I’m not saying Atlantic City is just another Myrtle Beach, but the area is home to some world-renowned courses. First, the Galloway National Golf Club. The course is an 18-hole golf sanctuary as it snakes against the back bays of the marsh and wooded areas. Created by world renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio, the Galloway National Golf Club is a must see for the serious golfer visiting the area. Next is the Brigantine Links. A completely different type of game than a normal golf course, the Brigantine Links is designed in the style of Scottish golf courses and can be played most of the year. To complete a final suggestion on one of the best courses to visit is the Seaview Marriott Golf Resort. The club is part of one of the best hotel and spa facilities on the East Coast and the course captures that excellence. Either of these are great options, but it should be noted that the area is home to over 20 of the best golf courses and links to pick a play.

3.White House Sub-store – One could argue that a sandwich is just a sandwich, but for anyone who has had the opportunity to enjoy any number of selections from the White House Sub-store on the corner of Artic and Fairmount avenues in Atlantic City, I’m sure they they would disagree. With over half a century in the same place and having served some of the world’s most famous people and entertainers like Frank Sinatra, Joe DiMagio and Oprah Winfrey, and for good reason. The sandwiches are made with a uniquely styled Italian roll that doesn’t seem to be replicated anywhere else in the world, plus high-quality imported meats and cheeses. Some attest that the unique mixing of the local water with the dough is what creates the truly unique roll. Overall this should be a definite stop if you are heading into town.

Four.Atlantic City Entertainment – It would be remiss not to remind all of us that Atlantic City is a prominent destination. Sure, Atlantic City casinos have had their share of licks in recent years due to increasing competition from neighboring states, legislation like a smoking ban, and a failing economy, but the city, its casinos and entertainment venues they have been topping the main headlines. acts for some time. Acts such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chicago, Fleetwood Mac, Christina Aguilera and many more have taken the stage of the exhibition halls and the Convention Center. At any time of the year, world-class acts like this can be found. If you’re planning a visit to Atlantic City in the near future, it would make sense to take a look at the Atlantic City Headliner Show Schedule for the next few months to see what you might like.

5.Somers Point Bay Avenue – All the action in Atlantic City is not necessarily in the city of Atlantic City. Some fun can be found if you venture outside the city limits with just a five minute drive. Somers Point New Jersey is a semi famous town in the area that has been known for its nightlife venues for some time. The stigma attached to Somers Point’s bars and watering holes has shifted over the years, from a Doo Wop scene to a lower-class drinking area to a middle-class tavern style. Notable places to visit if you’re in Somers Point include Anchorage, which has a storied history in the area, but offers great food and a great view of the bay, Charlies Bar, which is known for some of the hottest Hot Wings. I have had and Caroline’s by the Bay, which is a great place located right next to the meadows. I can’t promise the scene won’t be wild and at times full of only mature drinkers, but you’ll have a good time.

6.Ocean City Boardwalk – In Atlantic City’s heyday, the Atlantic City Boardwalk was the inspiration for the city to once be called “the playground of the world” and for good reason. Visitors to the seaside town can find almost a carnival atmosphere where daily shows of the famous diving horse, food, fun and games can be found for miles. That day came and went and nothing could replace him or the era for which he represented. The Ocean City Boardwalk, however, may not be a replacement, but it sure can offer some great family fun. The Ocean City Boardwalk is home to excellent pizza at three different locations in Mack and Mangos, where a side of Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer is a nice addition to a host of diversions and attractions. Visitors will find ferris wheels, arcades, and water attractions, and the smell of Johnson’s cotton candy, caramel popcorn, and the ocean itself make it one of the most unique and relaxing places to visit.

7.Historic Town of Smithville – If you are really looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but are still a stone’s throw away from the action, Smithville New Jersey and specifically the historic city of Smithville is a great option. Tucked away in the Galloway Township area and about a 10-minute drive from town, you’ll find a quaint commercial area filled with restaurants, ponds, shops, and more. I’d say this is a great place for romantics who want to spice up their visit to the Atlantic City area.

8.Atlantic City Cruises – Like the beaches in the area, many forget that the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding bays offer great fun. Atlantic City Cruises. Cruise packages on offer include Booze Cruises, Dolphin Watch, Moonlight Dance Parties, and just plain old sightseeing tours. Cruises usually last about 3 hours on average and are perfect for group plans.

9.Water skiing in Atlantic City – An idea more in keeping with the maritime theme of the area that is overlooked, are the jet skis and places to ride waves. The area is full of independent shops offering jet ski and jet ski rentals to enjoy the ocean and bay areas. Believe me, this is a lot of fun.

10.Atlantic City Skyline Helicopter Tour – This attraction caught my eye recently and it seems like a great thing to do. The Atlantic City area with its wide beaches, bay, and nearby wooded area is amazing to see from above.
