Use your food processor to make homemade nut butters in minutes!

Nut butters are deceptively easy to make, if you have a good food processor. The food processor will do almost everything for you; Just gather the ingredients and turn on the machine!

Peanut butter

Peanut butter is definitely the most popular of the nut butters. This is a somewhat strange fact since the peanut is not even a nut; it is actually a vegetable. Homemade peanut butter really only requires one ingredient: roasted peanuts. Simply drop the desired amount of peanuts into the working bowl of your food processor equipped with a multipurpose blade. Process until creamy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. The slight subtle flavor of avocado oil works quite well in this nut butter. Salt to taste, if desired.

Pumpkin Seed Butter

Here’s another seed disguised as a walnut in this butter. Like sunflower seeds, this will require the addition of additional oil to achieve a creamy texture. If you can find pumpkin seed oil, it is definitely the best option for this recipe. Follow the same directions as for sunflower seed butter, but increase the oil to one and a half tablespoons per cup of pumpkin seeds.

Cashew butter

Cashews are a great nut butter, one you should definitely try if you haven’t already. It is extremely buttery without the addition of any additional oil. Place the cashews in the work bowl of the food processor and turn them on. Process until creamy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Salt to taste, if desired.

Pine nut butter

Pine nuts naturally have a buttery flavor and consistency, making them a great choice for a nut butter. They do not require additional oil to achieve a creamy texture. For optimal flavor, toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for two to three minutes. Transfer to the work bowl of your food processor and process until done, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Salt to taste, if desired.
