What about all the bald players on the PGA Tour?

Is it just me or are there a lot of bald guys playing on the PGA Tour? Not just receding hair lines … I mean completely bald! Some guys thought their hair looked so bad that they decided that shaving everything looks better! I mean the regular PGA tour. These guys are young. No offense to the guys on the Champions Tour. I am a great fan.

In my research to uncover this mystery, I read that some bald men are proud of their baldness. They are related to famous charismatic bald men like Yul Brynner, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel, Sean Connery and Telly Savalas. Baldness has become less of a handicap and more of a fashion statement among men in the west. Patrick Stewart was called “The Sexiest Man on Television” for his charismatic role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

So what causes all this baldness? It can be caused by surgery, illness, hormonal imbalance, medication, infection, stress, and pregnancy. (It is not the “we are pregnant” type of pregnancy that men experience. The real one that involves the uterus). There are also many myths about the possible causes of baldness. Now there is a surprise! Myth # 1. You can inherit baldness from your mother’s father. Research has also shown that a person with a bald father is significantly more likely to experience hair loss. Wow, that’s a double whammy! First grandfather then dad. Some of you have no chance. Myth # 2. Intellectual activity or psychological problems can cause baldness. Does that mean that overthinking can make you pull your hair out? Talk about overthinking. Myth # 3. “For some people, increasing social status through intelligence can compensate in mating for the physical attractiveness diminished by hair loss and thus produce male offspring who are both prone to loss of hair as of high intellect “. THAT? Did anyone understand that? Myth # 4 and one of my favorites. Baldness can be caused by emotional stress and sexual frustrations, BUT bald men are more virile or sexually active than others. Then what is? Are they frustrated or active? Here’s a myth that I bet you’ve never heard before. Too much sex causes baldness. I bet all this time these kids thought their mothers said blindness! (There is a joke about the Tiger somewhere, but I’ll let it go for now.) Last but not least, myth No. 6. Drum roll please. Fitted hats cause baldness. Bingo!

Many moons ago, when my husband played on tour, not many guys wore hats. Today, many of those guys play on the Tour de Campeones and most of them still have their hair. All young players wear hats. In fact, they wear totally coordinated outfits. Yes, outfits. When the shirt matches the pants, matching the shoes matching the glove, belt, and hat, it’s an outfit! So there you have it. Mystery solved. It all makes sense to me now. It must be the hats. Or do you think the older generation just listened better to their mothers?
