Who wouldn’t want to be me?

I think one of the biggest career limits, if not an outright killer, is a lack of confidence. Lack of trust can come from many areas of his life, from childhood to an abusive boss, but far be it from me to try to explain his particular situation. The point is that you should try to overcome that lack of confidence if you suffer from it.

There’s a country singer named Keith Urban who sings a song called “Who Wouldn’t Want To Be Me?” When I first heard the title, I remember thinking how self-centered this guy must be to sing such an obviously self-indulgent song. But that’s not what the lyrics mean, nor is it what I mean by my title.

By thinking of all the things in your career that you can be proud of and thankful for, you may be able to begin the process of overcoming a lack of professional confidence. You have educated yourself to be able to get hired. You have come to work every day with the brightest outlook possible. You are reliable and have achieved significant things in your career. But you can’t move forward until you feel ready to do so. That lack of confidence will affect how others perceive you and your worth.

If you’ve flown a lot, you may remember that when flight attendants give your pre-flight safety instructions, they tell you how to put on your seat belt, where the emergency exits are, and then say something like, “In the unlikely event of sudden loss of cabin pressure, the oxygen masks will fall from the compartment above. Place the mask over your nose and mouth and breathe normally. Put on your own mask before attempting to help others.” own mask before trying to help others” always struck me. It basically means that you can’t help anyone if you haven’t taken care of yourself. Interesting concept, don’t you think?

Have you ever heard similar statements. How about “no one can love you until you can love yourself”? or “You can’t give away what you don’t have.”

The point is that before you can help someone, you have to take control of your own life. If you have a healthy and positive outlook on life, no matter what your situation is, you will draw her back into your life, including the people, places, and things you need!
