Do dreams serve as a premonition?

Being able to foresee an unfortunate event in life such as death, disaster, illness, etc. through a dream is very common. Anyone can dream that something good or bad happens to another person or even to himself. Do dreams serve as a premonition?

Before continuing with the answer to the question, let me give you the definition of premonition and dreams. Based on the dictionary meaning, a PREMONITION is a foreboding of the future; or an advance warning while a DREAM is a series of images, ideas, emotions and sensations that involuntarily occur in the mind during certain stages of sleep; a wild fantasy or a hope or a dream.

Let’s talk about dreams first. We all know that dreams do play a role in our daily lives. Most people pay little attention to dreams. Dreams can help us find solutions to our daily problems and see things from a different perspective. Whenever we are dreaming, we can be who or what we want to be, regardless of the fact that in real life, sometimes it cannot be. Dreams have their own interpretation, as for example when you dream of loose, rotten or missing teeth, it indicates that a family member or close friend is very ill or even on the verge of death. You can know the meaning of your dream through a Dream Dictionary.

Now what about premonitions? As defined above, it can be an advance warning. Many people have had premonitions in different types of situations. When we say premonition, it is transmitted through dreams. A certain feeling of what will happen in the near future but in a vague sense. Many cases of premonitions were documented such as the disaster when the Titanic sank and killed many people, in which there were fifty counts of premonitions. Some of the passengers who had a premonition canceled their tickets before traveling on the Titanic, they were saved from the horrible disaster that took place in 1912.

Do dreams serve as a premonition?

Well, it actually depends on the dream itself. If a person dreams of the entire scenario of an event, it can happen or it can happen in the future. However, from another point of view, it may be just a dream that he had had, but it has a different significant meaning for him. A dream can serve as a premonition but at the same time it cannot be.

We could say that a dream served as a premonition when the dream itself foreshadowed something that could happen in real life. But, if your dream was something that came out of grand anticipation of what you’ve been thinking, it may only be from your subconscious mind.

My answer to the question “Do dreams serve as a premonition?” It DEPENDS, if the dream you had has something to do with what might happen or maybe just an illusion that your subconscious mind revealed through a dream.
