Future kitchen: thoughtful plates, plates, bowls and cups

Imagine a kitchen that you never had to clean, it would clean itself. Imagine a kitchen that has a computer with artificial intelligence that learned your taste preferences and when it cooked “for you” it would know when to add an extra pinch of this or a pinch of that. Imagine a kitchen where cups, plates, bowls and plates were all the same and changed shape to whatever you needed and then returned to the flat starting position for easy stacking, even stacking on their own?

Well, imagine no more, since these new technologies are already in the works. In the future, MIT cooktops will be made of flexible carbon nanotubes with a graphene coating and will be very thin and strong. The plate can be a cup, a paper airplane, and/or a shape-shifting cake serving tray. It means it can be more easily stacked on the kitchen shelf or the kids can make their own UFO to fly around the garden.

These can be made from high-tech polymers or material memory plastics, perhaps looking and filling like paper. They will be easier to clean, take up less space, and will sanitize themselves after washing and drying too. GE is working on this technology, and there was even a Discovery Channel episode about these future kitchens and dishes. It makes a lot of sense for the Company’s employee cafeteria.

Imagine the kitchen of the future, because in a few years they will all be here. It’ll be healthier, take up less space, and save you and your family a lot of time cleaning up and preparing meals. The future is coming and it will be good.
