Nokia N82 Black Edition joins the Nokia N82 Titanium N-Series range

The Nokia N82 originally launched on O2 almost three months ago and remains the highest-specced candy bar-format N-series smartphone available, that has now changed, but only for the better, as a new color variant it has now been joined to the original model. and this new version looks a lot more like what you’d expect a smartphone to look like.

Encased in a beautiful black casing, the new Nokia N82 Black edition fits perfectly into today’s smartphone market, the exterior is finished in a high gloss paint finish which really gives the phone a sense of value and expense.

Comparing the two models is a fairly straightforward exercise as both color variants of the Nokia N82 offer exactly the same great features, design and technology, this is a purely cosmetic change and only the outer casing is new.

The Nokia N82 Black Edition is the latest addition to the N-Series range, sporting a high-quality 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus, xenon flash and Carl Zeiss lenses, as well as a QVGA TFT display that supports up to 16 millions of colors, which doubles as the camera’s viewfinder. The N82 black is a 3G phone, compatible with HSDPA mobile broadband and is also compatible with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0, which enables wireless music streaming with a compatible Bluetooth headset. There’s also a built-in GPS chip that works with the supplied Nokia Maps application.

Camera load time is much faster than other camera phones in its market segment, and image capture provides sharp, clear shots. Browsing the gallery is snappy and fast, and images can be viewed in landscape mode by tilting the phone to the side, thanks to the built-in motion sensor app. The motion sensor works in most apps like web browser or gallery, but it doesn’t work in main menu view.

Aimed at tech stylists, the N82 is designed for users who like their phones to look good while also having a phone that supports the latest features. And the N82 does not disappoint. In addition to a high-end camera, the Nokia N82 supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for data transfer and connectivity, plus 3G and mobile broadband for fast download speeds.

The Nokia N82 is equipped with a GPS chip and also supports A-GPS. Location selection within the supplied Nokia Maps application is very fast, the average time is less than 10 seconds.

The phone has a built-in MP3 player and has stereo speakers that provide excellent playback and clear sound quality. The N82 runs on S60 firmware. This means that in addition to the long list of features that the N82 offers, you can add additional features by adding third-party apps. The phone is designed with a chrome-style faceplate and a smartly designed plastic casing, which feels good in the hand and is well balanced.

Overall, the Nokia N82 is a high-quality phone and an excellent addition to the NSeries range. Once again, Nokia has raised the bar by which other phones are judged.

Although initially launched exclusively on Orange, the new Nokia N82 Black is expected to launch on other UK networks very soon, already being offered with a variety of freebies when consumers sign a contract.
