Perseverance – Never give up – How to find your warrior spirit

There are some things in life that you cannot afford to live without. Warrior spirit is one of them. There are times when perseverance may be the only thing that helps you. Knowing how to get in touch with this vital part of yourself is essential. Here’s how to find your warrior spirit.

Consider this quote about courage. “Courage is not the lack of fear. It is the will to persevere despite fear.” Perseverance or Warrior Spirit is not simply moving through the difficulties of a task. It is moving forward for a virtuous cause and sacrificing a part of yourself despite the obstacles and your fear. The fear of embarrassment, the fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear of loss of health, the fear of wasting time, the fear of making the wrong decision are all fears through which you must persevere.

What is a virtuous cause? It is a cause or goal that has redeeming qualities, especially if the end product enhances one’s personal or spiritual growth. Your intention must be for the greater good. Not just for ego satisfaction. Quitting smoking can be a virtuous cause. Learning a new language can be a virtuous cause. Earning a degree can be a virtuous cause. Being a good parent, allowing yourself to lose a competition, telling the truth even if it makes you look bad, setting a line that no one else likes, taking a stand when others won’t—all can be virtuous causes. The key is your intention. When you are clear that your intention is virtuous, then find your Warrior Spirit and persevere with determination.

Why sacrifice something of the self apart from the warrior spirit? If it was easy you wouldn’t need Warrior Spirit. The most common reason people quit smoking is that they are not willing to experience discomfort and are not willing to give up anything. Be willing to be uncomfortable, and you will find that you are not as uncomfortable as you might have thought you would be. This is one of the paradoxes of life. Once you accept what is difficult, you find that it is not so difficult anymore.

Sacrifice and persevere using wisdom. Persevering for perseverance’s sake isn’t necessarily virtuous, especially if you’re stubborn.

oing something out of his ego desire to have something. Learn to make a distinction between what your ego wants and what is truly virtuous. One can persevere for evil and destructive ends. Go within yourself and ask for guidance. You have within you a great loving wise self. Trust it. Learn to listen to his voice within you. follow it.

Sometimes life presents you with circumstances that require you to do things you would rather avoid. Sometimes you want something that requires you to go through a series of obstacles before reaching your ultimate goal. Sometimes you are compelled simply by your code of ethics to do something difficult. Whatever the circumstances persevere.

Be patient. Take one step at a time. Don’t try to skip steps just to get there faster or to avoid inconvenience. For example, you want to learn to play an instrument or learn new software. Do not rush. Take your time. One step at a time. Be patient. Persevere even if you don’t learn as fast as you would like. Your patience will pay off in the end.

Above all, don’t let the opposition stop you. You may not get to your goal as quickly as you want and you may feel discouraged or disappointed, or you may need to try alternative ways to achieve your goal. Such is life and that is the nature of achieving things of value. It’s hard. So what! Don’t let other people’s doubts and judgments determine you. You and only you know what is best for you. Follow that great loving and wise voice within you.

The warrior spirit is your birthright. Persevere with determination. You will achieve your goals. Choose your goals wisely. Listen to the great loving sage within you. Do not be afraid of sacrifice and difficulty. Walk through them. You will raise your own self-esteem and inspire others with your courage and determination.
