Stay ahead of the cleaning game

Today is cleaning day. We must locate and gather the right supplies for the job.

We need an all-purpose cleaner, ammonia, baking soda, and bleach. A broom and dustpan, a bucket, microfiber cloths or rags, and sponges. Add dish soap, your favorite duster, metal cleaner, a dry mop, and a wet mop to the list. You can use paper towels, isopropyl alcohol, a scrubber, and white vinegar. You can use mold remover, window cleaner, tub and shower cleaner spray, and a squeegee. Don’t forget the vacuum cleaner and extension cord.

Now that you have an estimate of how long this collection process took, let’s see if we can find a way to save some of that valuable time.

You can use your bucket or a plastic cart made especially for this purpose will work great. The plastic cart can fit into your chosen storage area more easily than a bucket.

The kitchen.

You probably already use some of the key items in the kitchen. Dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, ammonia, glass cleaner, metal cleaner, and white vinegar. You’ll probably also use a mop, cleaning cloths, and scouring pads. Baking soda is also a handy cleaner that you’ll want to add to your supply cart. Store these items in the kitchen. When you need them for another location, they’ll be ready, waiting, and easily transported to another room.

The bathroom.

Keep disinfectant wipes, an all-purpose cleaner, mold remover, and window cleaner for the mirrors. You will need a toilet bowl cleaner, shower cleaner spray, and a squeegee for the job in this room. Throw a few cleaning cloths and a roll of paper towels into this collection and you’ll save yourself hunting and collecting every time you use them.

On cleaning day, grab your supplies and carry them with you from room to room.

If your house has more than one level, keep a separate vacuum on each floor. This will not only save time, it will also save energy and possibly a trip to the chiropractor. Adding a long, sturdy extension cord will save time stopping to change plug locations as you move around the room.

The next time you clean, you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to get started now that you have everything together.

You will be even more excited when you realize how much time you have left at the end of the job.
