Clothing has always been considered based on its functional and social role. They differ from culture to culture and from generation to generation. What initially began as a mere act of protecting the body from weather conditions has now become and diversified into a statement of who we are and what we believe.

At first glance, it can be seen that the origins of clothing go back to prehistoric times and the main function was the protection offered to the human body against adverse weather conditions such as cold or frost, strong winds and rainfall or the sweltering heat. Initially they were made of animal skin or more and later they became clothing made of appropriate fabrics for each situation. Today, the range of clothing fabrics is wide and continues to expand. People pay more and more attention to detail and create fabrics that are allergy free and that respond to the most extreme weather conditions, such as polar temperatures.

However, the functional role of clothing is not reduced to protection against weather conditions. They also adapt to each type of work available since there are uniforms that mark the group to which you belong, such as in the case of police and military.

It is this value of belonging to a certain group that triggered the clothing industry. People started to adopt clothing patterns not only to reflect their personality but also to show that they share the same behavior and beliefs. If before the difference in clothing was intended to emphasize the social class to which one belonged, today it also has an ideological side. This is the case of gang members, for example, who usually wear a specific garment to distinguish themselves from the rest of the world.

Teenagers are probably the biggest trendsetter and they play an important role in the clothing market. Regardless of the culture they belong to, they are now increasingly exposed to the western styles available and buy clothes to make a statement and are therefore always on the lookout for the best deals available.
