Things to know before watching Grey’s Anatomy

History:

Grey’s Anatomy originates from Henry Gray, author of the medical textbook Gray’s Anatomy, printed under its current title as the 40th British Edition in September 2008. This book has since become a classic of human anatomy in the medical schools.

About the show:

Grey’s Anatomy is a prime time television show. It is about the lives of the residents, interns, and their gurus at the illusory Seattle Grace Mercer West Hospital located in Seattle, Washington. “A Hard Day’s Night”, the first episode of this drama aired on March 27, 2005 on ABC channel and since then, 5 seasons have been released, while the sixth season just started on September 24, 2009 Rumors are in the field about casting calls for at least 8 more seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, which would continue until spring 2012.

Grey’s Anatomy garnered commercial success and critical acclaim. Initially supposed to replace the legal drama “Boston Legal” as a mid-season, this show gained quite a few regular viewers and the first episode was watched by around 16 million viewers, while the first season finale drew more than 22 million viewers. It went on to win two Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes and earned the distinction of being one of the most watched television series.

It was announced before broadcast that the title of this show would be changed to Complications, which however did not happen.

The story of fame:

In 2005, ABC gave this show a vote of confidence and announced that this show would receive the popular post-Super Bowl time and the special episode of this show witnessed a record count of 38 million viewers. The show later overtakes the popular CSI with the season premiere drawing 3 million more viewers than CSI.
