Acer Aspire L3600 Review

Acer’s latest consumer PC is seriously anorexic. But don’t let this fool you into thinking its performance is lacking. Under its hood, the Aspire L3600 has an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 processor running at 2.2 GHz. This 3-liter ultra-small form factor PC is packed with just about everything a typical full-size desktop PC has. , and something else.

Standard specs include an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 1GB of DDR2 memory, a large 320GB hard drive, and a slot-loading DVD burner. As you can probably imagine, there is no room in this small box to house a dedicated graphics card, so users have to settle for an integrated solution. This significantly hampers graphics performance, but unless you’re planning on playing the latest 3D games, this won’t be a problem.

As a media center PC, the Aspire L3600 certainly shines. Very bright, I might add. The folks at Acer’s R&D division managed to fit in a TV/FM tuner so that those who wanted to put it in their living room to watch and record TV would certainly be able to do so right away. There are also video inputs, so if you have an old (older) camcorder with analog outputs only, you can transfer your old videos to PC. The only thing missing is probably a full remote for users to control the PC, but you can get third-party remotes at many computer stores these days.

Overall, the Aspire L3600 is very well designed and it’s good to see vendors come up with innovative products. Although this little thing will probably be able to handle most computing tasks, the only thing holding it back is its inability to run the latest games, not thanks to its integrated graphics card. If we use it in the living room as a media center PC, however, the Aspire L3600 certainly won’t be disappointed. Just remember to get a remote to go along with it.
