Baltimore Ravens – Ready to dominate in 2009?

If you’ve missed the opportunity to see the Baltimore Ravens in action, your fans can tell you it was a missed opportunity to see the birth of a champion team. In just 12 years, this team has become one of the shining diamonds in the sports world. Over the seasons, the team has weathered the ups and downs with class and style. Fans have shown their appreciation and admiration by being in the stands regardless of the weather. Baltimore Ravens tickets are hard to come by and once someone has them, you’re not likely to convince them to make a trade. Such sincere fan loyalty is only seen when a football team lives up to the hype and preseason press; this is where the Ravens excel.

Browns and Colts retire… Ravens move

It was in 1984 that the Colts football team moved to Indianapolis and with the Browns remaining in Ohio, the NFL approved the Baltimore Ravens in 1996. The first of the Ravens’ head coaches was Marchiboda, who had previously coached the Colts when they were in Baltimore. The MD franchise name was officially approved after a phone poll indicated that fans approved of it. Soon the search was on to find those new Baltimore Ravens tickets and fan expectations were high. In just 2 weeks, there were over 50,000 season tickets purchased by fans who embraced their new team.

This young football franchise opened its 1996 season on September 1 and was attended by more than 64,000 fans, the largest crowd ever seen at a professional Baltimore sporting event. During 1996 and 1997, the demand for tickets for the Baltimore Ravens was so high that all of their home games were completely sold out. A new stadium was built for this team that had won the hearts of people across the state and in 1998; the Ravens beat the Colts on their first visit back to their old turf.

Preparing for the Super Bowl

By 2000, the Ravens were showing ability and talent, but they were still missing some key ingredients. Coaches and players agreed that with a little more muscle, they could mount an effective Super Bowl charge. When the draft opened in February 2000, the team searched for the defensive players they needed and capped off a spectacular 2000 season with a victory over Tennessee to capture the Super Bowl crown. 2001 was the fifth in a string of back-to-back playoff wins, but 2002 was a year in which the team failed to advance when stymied by a more powerful behemoth from Pittsburgh. 2007 was a tough year for Baltimore and a mile-long injured list kept many starters on the sidelines, but fans gave the team an A+ for effort and courage.

Is Baltimore ready to dominate in 2009?

The 2008 schedule saw a rejuvenated team of Baltimore Ravens players who were fit and ready for action. Baltimore was running over almost all of their opposition and both their defensive and offensive lines were cohesive units that showed no mercy on the field. Once again, they were shut down in the postseason game by a Pittsburgh Steelers lineup, but they fought to the bitter end. Fans who had been lucky enough to get their coveted Baltimore Ravens tickets continued to praise their team as they made their way to the exit doors. They were also making some side bets on the possibility of their hometown team going all the way one more time in 2009.
