Coral Castle in Homestead Florida by Edward Leedskalnin

Many people traveling to South Florida may have passed through a small town called Homestead. It is only 30 miles south of Miami. They have to go through here to visit the Florida Keys. On the left hand side of the road you will see a sign for Coral Castle. Here are some reasons why you should stop by this amazing tourist attraction.

Coral Castle was built by Edward Leedskalnin more than 70 years ago. It is made from two types of oolite coral that is native to that area. Many of the pieces weigh more than 10 tons each. The amazing thing is that no one knows how Ed was able to create this structure by himself.

In the past, people with money used cranes that were used to move heavy objects like steel beams and large logs. They were building a construction project or logging in a designated area. An ordinary person still today does not have access to the machinery necessary to move the pieces of this 1,100-tonne structure.

It is said that the creator of Rock Gate Park did it all by himself, without the help of anything or anyone. He made a 9-ton door that swings at the touch of a finger. Imagine making a door that weighs 18,000 pounds. How would you move it? How would you make it spin?

Many scientists at the University of Florida have simply concluded that they don’t know how Ed Leedskalnin was able to make his coral masterpiece. He has simply been classified as a modern wonder and mystery. It is possible that one day we will know the secrets of the Coral Castle. Until then, this tourist attraction will simply amaze and amaze visitors lucky enough to get there.
