If the windows and doors have pre-cut trim(s), there is no need to install J-trim around them, the siding will slide into the trim. If the trim is boxed in, a utility knife can be used to remove the vinyl strip from the sides. Start by cutting the corner across the house and then insert the blade of the knife into the slot in the front of the trim. Once a 12″ section is cut, it is possible to cut the strip and remove the rest by hand. This is easier than trying to cut the groove the entire length of the trim.
