Dressing the exterior of your house using the principles of Feng Shui

There is a feng shui theory behind the best color for the exterior of your house and it is based in part on the orientation of the house. Each house has an orientation; it faces a certain direction that can be defined with a compass. There are eight basic directions: north, south, east, west, northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest.

The true character or strength of a house is determined by its “sitting direction”, which can be described as the back of the house. A house that faces North will “sit” in the South. If you as a person face east, then your back is to the west, so it’s the same notion with houses.

When you know which is the living side of your house, that direction is associated with a complementary element and colors. Below is a graph that defines a house based on its sitting side. You just have to remember that the seat is almost always the opposite of the front side because almost all houses have parallel front and back walls.

Below is a list of sitting sides of a house and the ideal exterior colors for it:

North (water): supportive or matching blue, white, or gray

Northeast (Earth): beige, supporting reddish or matching tones

East (Wood): Solidarity or matching or blues

Southeast (wood): supporting or matching greens or blues

South (fire): supporting or matching reds or greens

Southwest (Earth): solidary or matching yellow, brown, or red

West (Metal): Support or Matching White, Grey, Yellow, or Brown

Northwest (Metal): Support or Matching White, Grey, Yellow, Brown

The theory is that you can use an exterior color that matches the type of house, or a color that reinforces the element associated with it. For example, a house to the north is a “water” type house, and any shade of blue is water. So that would be a stable color for the exterior. But in the cycle of the elements, metal strengthens water, so metallic colors like white and gray are also complementary for that type of house.

When a type of home has a supportive exterior color, it makes the home stronger, warmer, and therefore the occupants can feel healthier and more productive.

To use the same theory of the five elements, if the exterior color of a house has a dominating or debilitating effect, then the occupants will feel exhausted or the house may demand a lot of their energy and resources, like the house we call the “Money “. Pit” because the occupants cannot save.

Below is a chart showing the same sitting directions, but the color or colors that would have a dominant effect in that type of home, and therefore No recommended.

The house is located to the north / harmful exterior colors = yellow or brown

The house is located to the northeast / Harmful colors = green

The house is located to the east / Harmful colors = white or gray

The house is located to the southeast / Harmful colors = white or gray

The house is to the south/ harmful colors = blue

The house is located to the southwest / harmful colors = green

The house is located to the west / Harmful colors = Red tones

The house is located to the northwest / Harmful colors = Red tones.
