What natural stone to use in your rooms

Natural stone tiles come in different finishes and sizes. In this article we will give recommendations on what types of natural stone you can use in your home.

Kitchens: The kitchen area is the place where we spend the most time. It is also the place that gets dirty very easily. Liquid spills, crumbs can have a negative impact on your floor. This is why we always recommend a tile that has a smooth finish and no visible holes. If you are using travertine, polishes and fills are the best option. Tumbled travertine has holes, so dirt can get deeper into the hole, and cleaning the floor can become more difficult than normal. Also marble, limestone, granite, slate are good options, but if you are looking for a warm creamy beige color, ivory travertine will be the best choice. Just make sure there are no extensive fillers all over the surface.

Rooms: There are more options for living rooms. Again, polished and filled travertine is a good choice, however tumbled travertine can also be considered for a rustic look. Marble tiles can be used with complementary mosaics or border pieces if you need something more durable.

Conservatories: Multicolored slate is the preferred option for greenhouse areas. Its extravagant colors will add beauty to the place. Also, if you are thinking of tiling the garden as well, there are multicolored slate pavers that will match the conservatory area.

Showers and toilets: Tumbled marble or travertine tiles are the preferred options. Polished tiles are not recommended on floors as they will become slippery in wet areas. Creamy beige marble or travertine tiles, along with mosaics will look fabulous in the area. If you do not want to use natural stone in this area, there are an infinite number of ceramic ranges, porcelain tiles in a variety of colours. Just use your imagination.

Bedrooms: Limestone tiles offer a variety of colors; gold, creamy beige, grey, white and more. However, you may want to stick to the design and use the same tiles in the bedrooms that you have used in the living room. Therefore, the most logical choice again would be to use polished and filled travertine.

Of course, everyone has their own taste and color options. In our experience, people tend to choose more travertine tiles compared to other types of flooring. This is due to the fact that travertine has a very warm creamy beige color and a very smooth surface. They are very affordable and common. There are also outdoor travertine tiles available if you want to use the same type inside and outside the property.
